Development Director

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree and experience in fundraising, event planning, grant writing, and development required. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with prior experience in public speaking and external relations, and the ability to represent the organization to a variety of stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and partner organizations.

Familiarity with the community and ability to build relationships and to work in diverse settings with diverse populations. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. Understanding of the issues related to child abuse, neglect, and victimization. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and allow for flexibility - minimal evening and weekend work required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, establish, and coordinate the implementation of an overall development and marketing plan.
  • Develop resources to meet organizational needs and maintain a donor database for new efforts.
  • Identify and steward major donors, endowment giving, foundations, sponsorships, and corporations.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of agency fundraising, including major gifts, planned giving, annual funds, special events, and grant writing.
  • Collaborate with Executive Director to develop annual report.
  • Evaluate existing events and establish additional events and activities as needed to increase revenue.
  • Increase participation and solicit new members of the Board Ambassador volunteer group by chairing regular meetings, cultivation events, and assisting with events sponsored by Board Ambassadors.
  • Serve as co-chair for annual Walk to End Domestic Violence and on-site point person the day of the Walk.
  • Coordinate with media regarding special events and fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and community leaders as well as attend monthly Development Committee meetings with the Board of Directors.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and other public forums to enhance the organization’s visibility and influence.
  • Increase visibility on agency social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube by creating original and appropriate content with tremendous attention to detail.
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff and leadership meetings based on availability.
  • Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in regularly scheduled supervisory meetings with the Executive Director.
  • Promote the agency’s services, programs, image, and philosophy to the public by serving as one of the forward-facing staff within the agency.[JB1]
  • Maintain timely, accurate, organized, and complete files.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Create and send timely acknowledgement letters to donors as needed.
  • Perform any other reasonably related duties as assigned by Executive Director.
